Why do you call it "Spiritual Energy Healing?" Why not just "Energy Healing?"

We strongly believe the element of spirituality takes energy healing to a far higher level for both the healer and the client. As you progress, you will learn how to connect and work with your own higher self and soul, your "healing team" (a spiritual team of guides and angels), as well as your client's healing team, and the higher forces of the Universe.

When you establish and strengthen this connection with the higher forces of the Universe, you will often find your guides giving you new insights and knowledge, assisting you in your healings both in and out of the classroom, and helping you live a life that is more in alignment with your soul's goals and desires.

Do you offer a distance learning or Internet course?

We require attendance in class at the School for a variety of reasons. The most important one is so that we can observe and assist you during your practice healings. Be very cautious about enrolling in any type of online or correspondence-type energy healing program (unless it is strictly informational), even if they provide streaming video or DVDs.

You and your instructors will want to know that

  1. Your techniques are correct and effective
  2. You are "running" your energy to the best advantage
  3. Your energy field is both open and protected and strong
  4. Your vibration is consistently higher than that of your "practice client"
  5. You are using all of your energy centers equally (i.e. not overcompensating in some centers for other weaker ones), etc. etc.
  6. You aren't falling into ineffective or harmful habits

Written or taped lectures can be "dry", and don't allow for spontaneous questions, illustrative stories, or even impromptu demonstrations. Although we have specific material that is always covered during each weekend, the lecture and lab work is dynamic and ever changing. This helps to keep class time "alive" and interesting, and directly involving the students in the learning process.

I just want to learn for my own personal and spiritual growth, and to develop my intuitive abilities. Is this right for me?

Many students enroll in the School for themselves, with no intention of starting up a part- or full-time practice, and yes they do achieve these goals. The process of self-healing and developing high-sense perception occurs naturally and progressively through both classroom and homework assignments. It's very rewarding to see everyone find interesting and unique ways to use their new knowledge and abilities in both their careers and everyday lives!

How much time should I allow for homework assignments in between sessions?

The homework for the first weekend of the first year is always the most time consuming. It differs with each student and averages anywhere from 10-15 hours. For all subsequent quarters, the average is 6-8 hours. You'll be required to do a certain number of practice healings using the techniques you learned in the most recent class, and the learning curve varies with each student and each modality. Naturally, the more you practice, the more you'll improve. Students who consistently do more than the required number of practice healings always progress much faster.

Does the School continually update on new discoveries in energy modalities?

We (the teachers) consider ourselves "perpetual students", continually reading, studying and learning new metaphysical and spiritual concepts. Although the curriculum is very tight, we always find a way to introduce what we've learned to you, as well as suggesting optional reading, courses and workshops.

I've already done a lot of reading and studied or trained in other types of energy healing. Can I skip the first year of School and enroll as a Second Year student?

Although most energy healing techniques have some element in common, no two are exactly alike. This course combines a number of different techniques and beliefs in a unique way, so it is unlikely that any student will be able to walk into the second year knowing all the material covered in the first year, and the way that we combine it. It would be unfair to the other students to devote extra time to teach or explain something that they learned in the first year, not to mention difficult given the fast pace of the weekend intensives.

You cover a lot of different subjects, yet many practitioners focus on only one or two of these. Why so many? Why not *just* Spiritual Energy Healing?

We believe energy and light are living forms. Color, sound, vibration, thought, intention and feeling are just a few of the many ways we can connect and work with energy and light. The more forms and techniques you know, the better equipped you will be to help both yourself and others. As different situations arise, you'll find certain modalities, or combinations of modalities, to be the most effective to deal with them.

Think of it like building or repairing a home. You may be able to complete your task with just a hammer and saw, but it will be easier and faster if you have an entire toolbox available.

Can I just sign up for the weekends that I'm interested in?

Each class builds on the material covered in previous classes. Even if you have taken another course in shamanism or energy healing or crystals, it would be unfair to the other students to devote extra time to teach or explain something that they learned in the first year, not to mention difficult, given the fast pace of the weekend intensives.

Are there "religious" teachings included in your curriculum?

No. We believe it is possible to be highly spiritual without having a particular religious affiliation, and we do not force or expect anyone to accept or practice any specific religious belief. Our teachings are based on spiritual concepts, and we encourage you to follow your heart and listen to your higher self.

What do you mean by "mentoring included"?

You'll be assigned to a teacher as your personal advisor. Questions will come up as you do your exercises, reading and practice healings in between school sessions. You'll want to have someone available to work with you by phone in a timely manner, rather than having to wait for the next school session.

This is also why it is so important to get your homework assignments and write-ups in on time; this way we can assess how you are doing, what your strengths and weaknesses are, and offer advice to help you keep up with the class and evolve faster.

Is the School a licensing institution, or State accredited?

Good news: energy healing practitioners are not required to be licensed in North Carolina or California. Therefore, it is not required that the School be a licensing institution or State accredited. (See ***We also feel very strongly) As of the date this page was created, you can legally perform energy healing without being licensed. Here are the relevant excerpts from www.bmbt.org for North Carolina (italics added for emphasis):

6. LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
Basically, anyone who is practicing massage and bodywork therapy for compensation - whether you are working full-time or part-time, self-employed or working for someone else. The only exceptions are practitioners of certain energy-based and movement repatterning techniques whose work does not involve direct manipulation of the soft tissues of the body (see FAQ Sheet on page 12).

11. What practitioners are exempt from licensure?
Pursuant to Rule Section .0203, the Board considers practitioners of movement education (Alexander Technique, Body-Mind Centering, Feldenkrais Method, and Trager Psychophysical Integration), as well as practitioners of certain energy-based techniques (Healing Touch, Jin Shin, Medical Qi Gong, Polarity Therapy, Reflexology, Reiki, Specific Kinesiology, and Therapeutic Touch), to be within the scope of the exemptions set forth in the Practice Act and are therefore exempt from licensure requirements.

We suggest you check the licensing requirements of the city, state or country you intend to practice spiritual energy healing in, to make sure you will not need to be licensed. As with any career field, you will be responsible for keeping up-to-date on state laws once you graduate.

I have heard if one is not already a licensed professional to use touch (such as a massage therapist, nurse, or chiropractor), one must be classified as a religious minister associated with a church. Is that true?

No. See Is the School a licensing institution? In addition to this exemption, the School of Esoteric Healing is operated under Kyrah's ministry in the Universal Life Church and therefore meets this requirement, making it doubly exempt. If you choose to become an ordained minister, you will automatically be exempt from required licensing even if state laws for energy therapies change in the future.

The School is not just operated under Kyrah's ministry for convenience, or to circumvent state law. The focus is truly on spiritual energy healing; we strongly believe the element of spirituality takes energy healing to a far higher level for both the healer and the client. As you progress, you will learn how to connect and work with your own higher self and soul, your "healing team" (a spiritual team of guides and angels), as well as your client's healing team, and the higher forces of the Universe.

***We also feel very strongly that we do not want to be put in the position by any federal or state laws, in any guise (including licensing requirements or State accreditation), where a public or private institution can dictate, either now or in the future, what concepts or beliefs may or may not be presented or included in our curriculum.***

You do learn some cranio-sacral techniques in the First Year curriculum that you can use in your practice if you are an ordained minister, LMBT, nurse, or otherwise appropriately licensed. That is the only element in the entire 3-year course that is affected by North Carolina or California state law. If you are not already licensed or choose not to become an ordained minister, you can restrict these techniques to certain levels of the human energy field and still be a very powerful healer.

Where will the classes be held? How do I plan my travel and lodging?

Once we know the final student count, we'll choose the hotel with the appropriate size conference room. Since most students wait until November to register, we have a few hotels in both locations targeted. You'll be sent an information packet including the location, directions, airport(s), lodging and transportation options for both cities.

If you are interested in sharing travel expenses (hotel, car rental, etc.) you'll be provided other students' contact information so you can coordinate with each other. This is a great way to save money.

Do you offer discounts, work/study trades, financing or scholarships?

No. We have set the energy exchange at a rate that reflects all the time and energy we are putting into developing and teaching the course. We have found that students get more out of the course, and respect what they learn, when the investment they make is one that reflects the seriousness of their commitment to their growth. By setting an amount that honors the value of the course and the teachers, it is truly an equal energy exchange and attracts students who understand and appreciate the value of this work.

Many students get quite creative when they are really drawn to a course. Some have sold a second car, obtained a home equity or personal loan, or split tuition payments between several credit cards.

If you are truly unable to find a way to make this happen, it may simply be that the timing is not right for you, or that the ability to manifest is your next step. Manifesting is a necessary skill to make the changes that bring your outer world into alignment with your inner world of increasing light. Making your life work on the physical plane, learning how to create money and abundance, and supporting yourself comfortably may be the next step.

How much should I budget for additional expenses?

Allow for the cost of a massage table, sheets and pillows, plus about $50 per year for books and supplies. It probably won't be that much, but with all the fascinating books people suggest you'll be tempted to buy them.

You'll be drawn to some modalities more than others, so keep in mind you may want to purchase various products from time to time. The cost of these products ranges from about $10 to over $200. Some students pool their resources and share many of the products, even massage tables.

Students also frequently "fall in love" with a particular modality once they've been introduced to it in School, and invest in outside classes and certification courses in hypnotherapy, cranio-sacral, past-life regression, sound healing, acupressure, geomancy, space clearing, etc.

The "Awakening Your Light Body" course presented in the third year has two options: you can be listed with LuminEssence Productions (creators of the course) as having been "sponsored" by Kyrah without purchasing the 6-album set. You need not be listed with them. If you wish to be registered with them as a Light Body graduate, and therefore eligible to purchase any of the graduate tape albums or attend seminars, they have now made it a rule that you must also own the album set. We highly recommend you do so. There will be times when you will want a "refresher," not just in how to run the energy centers and Light Body, or how to combine certain centers, but also when you wish to feel particular frequencies more strongly. You may purchase the set directly from them, or from Kyrah at a substantial discount. More information on Awakening Your Light Body.

Are any of the class sessions eligible for MTLB or Nursing Continuing Education Credits?

We plan to offer CEUs in the future. If it is necessary to offer individual weekend intensives separate from the School in order to preserve the integrity of our curriculum, we will do so.

What are the practical applications of this course and diploma? In what fields can one legally work with the SEH (Spiritual Energy Healing) certification?

There are very few institutions or businesses at this time that hire energy healers. While some people work as independent contractors in places like spas, health clinics, or chiropractor's offices, the "overhead" percentage is often prohibitive. Done correctly, spiritual energy healing requires focus, concentration, and dedication. It is not a field where you can work a 30 or 40-hour week, so if you want to be financially comfortable and feel that you have an equitable energy exchange, it's advisable to request a trial period before making a long-term commitment. Most healers choose to either operate a private practice or add energy healing to their current career.

How easy is it to find work or establish a private practice as a Spiritual Energy Healer once I've graduated?

Again, most healers choose to either operate a private practice or add energy healing to their current career (nurse, massage therapist, bodyworker, naturopath, etc.) It is possible to earn a very comfortable living, but like any other self-employed or independent contractor field, it takes time to build it up, develop a client list, etc. The average time for any new career (or the same career in a new city) is 2-3 years, and naturally it depends on how much consistent, dedicated effort you put into it.

You will want to be set up so people can find you, possibly business cards or brochures in the appropriate local stores, healing centers and bookshops; set up a website or be listed on other websites; perhaps offer workshops or classes in your area; look for opportunities to give talks and demonstrations, or supplement your income with products that you truly endorse, etc. It really depends on your personal goals and preferences, and to a degree the area you live in, but remember, in this service you are not limited to any geographical area! You can do distance healings for clients all over the world.

We also teach you how to "call" your clients energetically at the end of the 3rd year. They are the same processes Kyrah has always used to start up a new practice when she's moved. It's extremely effective, and it's never taken her more than a year to be working at whatever level she chooses by using these processes.

We believe when you come from a place of integrity and a sincere desire to be of service to the world, people will recognize and appreciate you by the quality that you offer. All of the kingdoms of earth are in desperate need of healing, particularly humanity, and there is a huge need for effective, talented healers.

Will I be required to do renewal studies to keep the diploma current?

No; remember, as of the date of this page being created, there are no licensing regulations governing energy healing. Once you have your diploma, you are free to practice or not as you please. Spiritual energy healing is such a fascinating field, you will find yourself continuing your studies on your own. All of us (students and teachers alike) are continually discovering new interests, new authors and new concepts. We cannot imagine ever "stopping" the learning process because we're in love with it, and you will be too!
